Historical Martial Arts - Longsword: Advanced
This class is an ongoing Intermediate to Advanced study of the Longsword in both sport and combat techniques as taught in the published works of 16th century fencing master Joachim Meyer (1537–1571) and other related historical texts. This is a hand's on (i.e. - "sword in hand") type of class with some limited academic discussion for context and relevance. Prior Longsword experience is required.Minimum requirements are:* HEMA rated Fencing mask (students/attendees must provide their own protective equipment)* 4+ months of prior Longsword training and/or completion of the Longsword Foundations I class.Instructors are provided by the St. Paul Freifechter, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to the study and practice of Historical Martial Arts.For questions - contact SGCoordinator@stpaulff.com

3-Day Horse Camp for Children (6-15)

Experience a mini-week long camp! Campers will get to experience everyday life at a barn! Life in the barn will include activities such as; daily riding, learning how to braid manes and tails with ribbon, groom and care for the horses (including bathing) and feed them at the end of the day. This is a great time for campers to spend time outdoors and build lasting friendships with fellow horse lovers in a structured and positive environment. Campers are broken into smaller groups of similar riding experience, which is perfect for both the new and more experienced riders. Please note that riding takes about 1 hour per day in an arena, no trails and consist of learning to how to steer, stop, turn, and walk/trot on their own. Campers will spend time on the ground with horses throughout the rest of the day. Please note: Campers need to bring sunscreen/hat/bug spray, a lunch, snacks, and plenty to drink. Long pants, closed toe shoes, and appropriate clothes for weather inside or outside recommended. Drop-off is at 9am and pickup is 3pm.

ACCFC 5th–6th Grade Sports Sampler

The 5th–6th Grade Sports Sampler is a FREE program for Fridley Middle School students in grades 5 and 6. Led by YMCA coaches, students will try a variety of sports and active games, including basketball, soccer, flag football, and more. No prior experience is needed, and all equipment is provided. School-year sessions include a snack and access to the 4:45 p.m. activity bus, in alignment with district transportation procedures. Students needing transportation for spring sessions must complete the transportation form if they have not already done so. Summer sessions will be held outdoors unless weather requires a change. No snack or transportation is provided for the summer session. Students may register for multiple sessions. Families who register for this FREE program may also use code YMCAFridley50 for 50% off a YMCA Summer Camp. Please apply the code at the payment screen when registering for camp. Funding for this project was provided by the Anoka County Children and Family Council (ACCFC), a collaborative initiative of school districts, community providers, and the county that promotes resilience and improved outcomes for children and families. This program is offered in partnership through Fridley Community Education and the YMCA. The goal of this grant is to increase access to high-quality after-school opportunities for middle-level students.

Camp Pythagoras is a summer experience for students entering grades 6–8 who love patterns, puzzles, and the thrill of discovery. Campers will explore rich mathematical ideas through collaboration, conversation, and creative problem solving in a fun and engaging environment. This is not a traditional math class with lectures or worksheets. Instead, students will dive into intriguing problems, uncover surprising connections, and build their own ideas through joyful exploration. PROGRAM, ENROLLMENT & AUDITION INFORMATION: High School Musical Theatre Summer Intensive Experience performing the musical Dear Evan Hansen. The program is for students that are entering 9th grade up to having just graduated from high school in the current year who are passionate about singing, dancing and performing. Students will learn music, dialogue and choreography for a staged production with set, lights and costumes. Whether you’re a seasoned performer or new to musical theater, this program will help you grow as an artist and gain valuable stage experience in a supportive and creative environment. Everyone who enrolls will perform on stage in a role. The ensemble will be expanded in this production. PERFORMANCES DATES: June 25, 26 & 27 at 7:00 pm at Fridley HS Auditorium REHEARSALS: May 5-6, 11,13, 18-19, 27-28 (4-6pm) - only 2 times per week in May June 15-18, 22-25 (M-F) 9:00 am - 12:30 pm (16 total) at Fridley HS Auditorium Attendance is expected at every rehearsal. Due to the small number of rehearsals, missing any of them will hurt the students’ performance and hinder the momentum of the production for the rest of the participants. Do not sign up for the program if: You are attending any other camp, activity or vacation that conflicts with multiple dates. Medical appointments must be scheduled for periods outside of rehearsal. Join Fridley Varsity Tennis for a fun and challenging tennis camp designed to help players grow their skills and confidence on the court. Whether you are new to tennis or already have experience, this camp offers high-quality instruction at an exceptional value. Coaches will guide students in all aspects of the game, including stroke development, agility, fitness, and match strategy. Participants will build skills through active instruction and practice in a supportive environment. Students should bring a racket if they have one, though rackets will be available to borrow if needed. Rainouts will not be rescheduled. Fridley Volleyball Youth Camp (Grades 1-6)

Join us for a fun and active volleyball camp designed for students entering grades 1–6. Campers will learn the fundamentals of volleyball through skill-building activities, drills, and games. Basic skills such as passing, setting, hitting, and serving will be taught in a supportive environment while students also have opportunities to play fun and competitive games. Each participant will receive a Fridley Volleyball T-shirt, and daily popsicles are included. Players should dress accordingly; tennis shoes, shorts, and a t-shirt (NO TANK TOPS!). These practices are open to students in grades K–12 and are a great opportunity for wrestlers of all experience levels to build technique, improve conditioning, and grow their confidence on the mat. This is a great introduction to begin and continue learning the game of basketball. Each student will learn the basic fundamentals of the game: Running, pivoting, passing, ball handling, catching, jumping, and shooting. There will be a lot of shooting and dribbling games along with games of 1 on 1 up to 4 on 4. Horse Back Riding Single Day Camp

Kids will learn what it's like to have a horse for a day! Campers get to ride in the indoor and/or outdoor arenas for 40min-50min (no trails), practice how to steer, stop, turn, and walk on their own. They also might make horse treats, do a craft, and play games. And don't forget the time to meet and care for the horses, which is a big part of ownership! Campers are broken into smaller groups based on similar riding experience and age, which is perfect for both new and more experienced riders! Intensive Etiquette Class (Adults & Children Combined Class)

Intro to Drumset (Grades 5-8)

Get started on the drum set in this hands-on introductory class designed especially for students in grades 5–8. Students will learn proper hand and foot technique, basic rudiments, and how to play drum beats along with music in a variety of styles and tempos. Practice pads and sticks will be provided for use in class, and the instructor will provide the drum set. My Little Horse Camp

This 2 hour camp is designed for adults and children, ages 2-5. Campers will get to ride a real horse in an arena, meet a number of different horses at Boulder Pointe and learn how to groom the horses...all with a focus on safety! In addition, students will do an art project and have an opportunity to make horse treats to feed their new friends. Stations are split into 15 minute intervals to keep everyone engaged. Parents have the opportunity to lead their child on the horse and take photographs as they go. Camps are held rain or shine and parent/guardian is expected to remain with their child during the entire duration of the camp.

NEW - Minnesota Wind Chill Ultimate Frisbee Clinic (Grades 3-6)

Join players from the Minnesota Wind Chill, Minnesota’s professional ultimate frisbee team, for a fun, high-energy ultimate frisbee clinic. Safeway Driver's Education

Parents/guardians will be required to complete Safeway's Account Verification. Safeway will be sending out an email before class begins that gives detailed information about how to login to the student's Safeway account to verify and complete contact information and to review and acknowledge our Service Agreement. Classroom training can be taken by students who are 14-1/2 years or older and consists of 10 three-hour lessons. Each lesson is independent and can be taken in any order. If a lesson is missed, the student can make it up when and where it is convenient at a Safeway classroom or contact Safeway for more information. Lesson calendars are available on Safeway’s web site. Pick-up and drop-off is at home, school or work. Training is done in a white late-model car with Safeway’s “Student Driver” graphics. Classroom training and Behind-the-wheel training are included in the full cost of $414 (this includes $49 community education registration fee). Classroom training only payment option is $234 (this includes $49 community education registration), and Safeway collects $170 during the behind the wheel lessons. Safeway Driving School was selected by Fridley Community Education to provide teen driver’s education. Safeway is the largest driving school in Minnesota. It has an A+ rating with BBB and is a BBB Accredited Business. Safeway has 70 experienced instructors background checked and licensed by the MN Dept. of Public Safety. Scholarship assistance note: The typical scholarship assistance is to waive the $49 Community Education fee assistance cost. Safeway driving school also has a payment plan.
