Supporting a Balanced and Well Connected Life Through Active Aging
The 5th–6th Grade Sports Sampler is a FREE program for Fridley Middle School students in grades 5 and 6. Led by YMCA coaches, students will try a variety of sports and active games, including basketball, soccer, flag football, and more. No prior experience is needed, and all equipment is provided. School-year sessions include a snack and access to the 4:45 p.m. activity bus, in alignment with district transportation procedures. Students needing transportation for spring sessions must complete the transportation form if they have not already done so. Summer sessions will be held outdoors unless weather requires a change. No snack or transportation is provided for the summer session. Students may register for multiple sessions. Families who register for this FREE program may also use code YMCAFridley50 for 50% off a YMCA Summer Camp. Please apply the code at the payment screen when registering for camp. Funding for this project was provided by the Anoka County Children and Family Council (ACCFC), a collaborative initiative of school districts, community providers, and the county that promotes resilience and improved outcomes for children and families. This program is offered in partnership through Fridley Community Education and the YMCA. The goal of this grant is to increase access to high-quality after-school opportunities for middle-level students.
