Historical Martial Arts - Longsword: Advanced
This class is an ongoing Intermediate to Advanced study of the Longsword in both sport and combat techniques as taught in the published works of 16th century fencing master Joachim Meyer (1537–1571) and other related historical texts. This is a hand's on (i.e. - "sword in hand") type of class with some limited academic discussion for context and relevance. Prior Longsword experience is required.Minimum requirements are:* HEMA rated Fencing mask (students/attendees must provide their own protective equipment)* 4+ months of prior Longsword training and/or completion of the Longsword Foundations I class.Instructors are provided by the St. Paul Freifechter, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to the study and practice of Historical Martial Arts.For questions - contact SGCoordinator@stpaulff.com

This program is open to ages 12 years old and up or those with permission from the instructor. It utilizes the sword to help students with personal development and leadership skills. It focuses on patterns, fighting drills and target cutting. It is NOT a sport version.

Welcome to Fridley Preschool's Half Day program! Fridley Public Schools Primary Years Programme offers half day preschool programming for both 3 and 4-year-old children. Our 3-year-old half day programming is fee-based on a sliding scale. Our 4-year-old half day programming is offered either at no cost to qualifying families or fee-based on a sliding scale. These programs are located at the Fridley Community Center, offering a morning or afternoon session and follow the Fridley Public Schools district calendar. Fridley Preschool is the best start to your child's educational journey. Here at Fridley Public Schools, we focus on developing the whole child, and that starts with our districts earliest learners. Our preschool programs are designed to provide your child with the necessary learning experiences to prepare for Kindergarten. As an International Baccalaureate (IB) World Authorized school in the Primary Years Programme, your child will be a step ahead with our focus on the Successful Learner Equation and the holistic IB educational experience. When you choose Fridley, you are choosing an International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme, caring and nurturing teachers, a Parent Aware four-star rating, and a high quality & aligned curriculum. Please note that a 3.7% fee will be added to all electronic payment transactions You will receive a confirmation email once we've received your registration request, and again once your request has been ACCEPTED and you are officially enrolled. Your first months tuition will not be due until the THURSDAY PRIOR to the start of the school year. In addition to completing this online registration, you are required to provide these additional documents in order to complete enrollment. Come learn the basics of fighting with the European Longsword - the same weapon you’ve seen used by people like Geralt, King Arthur, and many Knights throughout history. This class is based on the published works of fencing master Joachim Meyer of Strasbourg (1534-1571) and is taught by a team of instructors from the St. Paul Freifechter. During this 8-week class, you will learn: >The basic and foundational techniques of combat with the European Longsword >Common historical vocabulary and terminology for the principles and techniques. >How to be a competent and safe training and sparring partner. Requirements (i.e. - what *you* need to bring): Comfortable/athletic clothing , Comfortable shoes as each session is 2 hours "on your feet" , Fencing mask, Light leather work/gardening gloves What will be provided: Training swords for use during classes. Safeway Driver's Education

Parents/guardians will be required to complete Safeway's Account Verification. Safeway will be sending out an email before class begins that gives detailed information about how to login to the student's Safeway account to verify and complete contact information and to review and acknowledge our Service Agreement. Classroom training can be taken by students who are 14-1/2 years or older and consists of 10 three-hour lessons. Each lesson is independent and can be taken in any order. If a lesson is missed, the student can make it up when and where it is convenient at a Safeway classroom or contact Safeway for more information. Lesson calendars are available on Safeway’s web site. Safewaydrivingschool.com Behind-the-wheel training consists of 3 two-hour private lessons which can be scheduled online or by calling Safeway’s office (651-351-9150). Pick-up and drop-off is at home, school or work. Training is done in a white late-model car with Safeway’s “Student Driver” graphics. Classroom training and Behind-the-wheel training are included in the full cost of $414 (this includes $49 community education registration fee). Classroom training only payment option is $234 (this includes $49 community education registration), and Safeway collects $170 during the behind the wheel lessons. Safeway Driving School was selected by Fridley Community Education to provide teen driver’s education. Safeway is the largest driving school in Minnesota. It has an A+ rating with BBB and is a BBB Accredited Business. Safeway has 70 experienced instructors background checked and licensed by the MN Dept. of Public Safety. Scholarship assistance note: The typical scholarship assistance is to waive the $49 Community Education fee assistance cost. Safeway driving school also has a payment plan. Fill out this form if you have a need for community education to waive the registration fee or if you need additional assistance. See below for the following example.
